The following are the criteria for summer reading:

All students are required to read one book:

- One classic novel (list available online) within the provided Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) level -
- Create a digital presentation for your book
- Complete 45 minutes per week (4 hours minimum) on i-Ready path between June 11th and July 18th.
- Students without an i-Ready path must read two books within their ZPD
- One fiction or non-fiction novel within student's ZPD
- Create project or quiz for book
- Complete 45 minutes per week (4 hours minimum) on i-Ready path
- Students who score a level 1 or 2 on the 2018 Reading portion of the FSA are required to complete prescribed i-Ready lessons between June 11, 2018-July 18, 2018, with weekly support from a designated facilitator
- Students selected to complete prescribed i-Ready lessons will meet with the designated facilitator prior to the completion of the 2017-2018 academic year, at which point expectations will be discussed and a personalized letter will be provided
All students are required to read one book:
- ALL students will create a digital presentation (Power Point, Prezi, i-Movie, etc.) on their book.
- Presentations must be between 2-4 minutes in length.
- Students will orally present the in the Language Arts classroom throughout the first quarter of the 2018-2019 academic year, and cannot exceed 4 minutes in length.
- Digital presentations will result in the first Language Arts grade for the quarter
- Presentations will be scored according to the attached rubric (available online)
- Students are only required to complete a digital presentation, and will not quiz for their book.
- All students complete 4 hours of i-Ready Reading throughout the summer months (45 minutes per week).
- Students who do not have an i-Ready path will read two books and create two digital presentations.
